Traditional hand animation is a lot of work. There is probably a good reason for this in Disney's eyes. The only difference with cartoons is that instead of being flipped by hand, they are filmed. That’s why it’s especially gratifying to see Wolfwalkers, Cartoon Saloon’s most recent hand-drawn release, nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 2021 Academy Awards. No, Disney does not produce nor is making any traditional hand drawn animation. If you repeat this until the whole of the flip book is filled up and then you flip the pages it makes it look as though the cats tail is moving. Very simply this means getting a flip book, drawing a picture of a cat for example, then on the next page drawing the same cat, in the same spot but just slightly altering its tail to have moved a little to the right, then on the next page repeating the process a little more to the right.
